AXLE SHIMS  REAR AXLE BEARING SHIMS
FOR   DANA 44 Timken SET 10

DANA 44 REAR SEMI FLOATING AXLE BEARING SHIMS

These shims are designed and made to fit behind the Timken Set 10 axle bearing race.
They are used to adjust and eliminate bearing end play on those axle bearings.

The shims allow adjustment to 0.00" end play, which is the conditions semi-floating tapered roller bearings are designed for and supposed to work in.
Eliminating the end play on a Dana 44 semi floating tapered roller bearing increases gas mileage by 1-2 mpg!!
The bearings when fully seated [ no endplay],
distributes the vehicle weight, and thrust over entire bearing cone/race and rollers' surfaces,
this lowers friction, and wear, decreases rolling resistance.
All tapered roller bearings on axles fail at top surfaces of the race, where entire load is focused  on one or two rollers, when there is any endplay;
That and lack of/wrong type of lubrication leads to early bearing failure.
So using these shims behind the race, achieves longer bearing life and better gas mileage.

The early series Dana axles [two piece] had shims on the outside of race, and were easy to adjust and zero end play.
Now with my special shims you can adjust and eliminate end play on later model D44 semi-floating axles.

Causes of axle End play: worn bearings, and WRONG OUTER AXLE SEALS., bent axle bearing retainers, factory machining out of tolerances .

The correct and only seal that should be used is a National 9912 seal.
The seal sets axle endplay , keeps the bearing in the race, held by the retainer plate.
These National seals are thicker- .415” to .425”.
The other seals are only .380” thick, this fact alone is why a lot of vehicles have .030”+ axle end play!!
So use correct thicker National seal 9912, and my shims for 0.000” end play, for bearings that will last a long time.
Factory tolerances for end play is 0.00" to 0.015”.

Remember: axle end play is equal to axle vertical [side ] play!
So if your axle shaft has .030" end play, that means there is equal amount [.030”] of side play, [ with original retainers].

Meaning: your axle bearing isn't seated firmly into the race, causing extreme load onto one bearing roller, leading to quick bearing failure and seal failure!
HERE IS YOUR FIX FOR DANA 44 REAR AXLE BEARINGS end play!!!
Average axle end play is .020" [ from my observations] before adjustment.
1 -set Includes 4- .003",   4- .005",   4 - .010",  2- .030"    shims, and instructions.

PRICE: $15.00 per set inc. shipping.
Enough shims in a set for both rear axles
[if using correct National 9912 seals and TIMKEN SET 10 BEARINGS]
